DIY Boho Valentines Inspiration

1 (1 of 1)

Looking for a unique Valentine’s day gift this year? Check out this easy DIY Bohemian style feather bouquet. I’ll take feathers over flowers any day, especially when you add a little sparkle and gold. I was looking for a unique boho style gift for friends this year and the traditional flowers were just not going to work. I’ve seen similar style feather boquets at weddings and thought this would make the perfect little Valentines Day Present.

Believe it or not I picked up everything for these at my local Hobby Lobby for under $10! Yes, so awesome I know. The feathers come in a bag for $1.99 and I used Krylon Gold Metallic Spray Paint to decorate the tips of a few feathers as well as the glass vase. I love that Hobby Lobby always has 40% off most of the store, and if you have an item that is not on sale, well you can easily print a coupon right online or use the mobile app. I really like RetailMeNot app for coupons.

After lightly spraying the glass I wrapped a little beaded charm around the top and a separate one with butterfly’s. The paint drys within minutes and is one of my favorites. I find myself wanting to paint everything gold, it gets a little dangerous. You will find so many options and styles in the beads section at Hobby Lobby. A little jute rope or twine to tie everything together and you are golden. The great thing about these is you can get several uses out of the spray paint, feathers and twine. So, for a few dollars it really goes a long way. I was able to make 6 of these before I ran out. Wrap these up in a little box and some paper for the cutest little Valentines present that will last a lot longer than flowers.

Simply Made Sunday: DIY No-Sew Curtains

Welcome to Emily’s Simply Made Series! Each post features a craft that looks cute or is practical but is easy enough for even the uncraftiest of people. Cute DIY things are NOT just for the pros! You can do it too!

I have so so much fun decorating my house, you guys have no idea!

I picked colors, painted, found fun little trinkets for each room etc, but I could NOT find curtains for my living room/dining room area. Well, I could…but I didn’t want to spend $150 per panel! yikes. There had to be a better way!

I looked at fabric, thinking I would sew my own, but I had an idea in my head and nothing was screaming “I BELONG ON YOUR WINDOWS!”
Then, I was at Target one day and found a Dwell Studios tablecloth for my table that I was all gaga over. It came in a long rectangle and a round (pictured)

Isn’t it gorgeous?! I wanna eat on this thing. It belonged on my table.
It was the perfect colors to go with my living room’s palate, and it was cute and modern. YES! It’s a start! Well, it was WAY too big to fit my tiny table and I was devastated. The pattern was perfect and I loved it too much to walk away. [Read more…]

Simply Made: Valentine’s Wreath

We are less than three weeks away from Valentine’s Day, are you ready to decorate? I don’t really go all out, but as my son gets a little older I am enjoying decorating for more holidays, not just Halloween and Christmas like I used to.

I desperately wanted to hang a dark red wreath on my door, but I have a dark red front door! Bummer. So after a few trial and error test runs, I found a wreath that fit nicely with my door color and was low-key Valentines Day, not too overly lovey dovey.

It was easy and cheap to make, and took me an hour from start to finish!
